OSD To Mizoram CM Zoramthanga Resigns

Guwahati: Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga’s officer on special duty (OSD) submitted his resignation on Wednesday.

Rosangzuala is also an adviser to the ruling Mizo National Front (MNF) president, Zoramthanga, and sought his resignation from the post as well.

Rosangzuala stated family obligations as the reason for his resignation, stating that in the wake of his brother’s passing, he must take care of his children and grandchildren.

In the upcoming general elections, reports claimed that Rosangzuala’s dual roles as OSD to the CM and adviser to the MNF president could hurt the ruling party’s electoral advantage.

He was crucial in assisting Zoramthanga while negotiating with the NSCN (I-M) in Bangkok, Bodo insurgent organisations, and even during negotiations between the ethnic armed organisations (EAOs) and the former Myanmar NLD government, which resulted in the signing of the “nationwide ceasefire agreement” on October 15, 2015.
