Assam: Tokay Gecko seized in Jorhat, two held
Guwahati: Two persons was arrested for allegedly being involved in smuggling of tokay geckos from Jorhat district of Assam on Saturday.
The arrestees were identified as Paresh Bahoi and Yadob Pegu.
According to reports, the police officials seized five geckos from the duo’s possession.
It needs to be noted that Tokay Gecko are small lizards that are found in warm climates across the globe and it is used as a vital ingredient in traditional Chinese medicine known as Ge Jie, believed to nourish the kidneys and lungs.
