Assam: Two Women Killed by Falling Tree in Udalguri

Guwahati, 17th April: Two women met a tragic fate as a massive tree fell on them during a heavy storm on Tuesday night in Udalguri, situated within Assam’s Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR).

The victims, identified as Geeta Narzary and Sabita Musahari, had traveled from Gohpur to Udalguri for personal reasons. Unfortunately, their visit turned fatal when a weakened tree succumbed to the storm’s force, uprooting and crashing down on them.

Eyewitnesses reported that the tree, weakened over time, collapsed as the heavy storm swept through the region, prompting villagers to seek shelter. Tragically, Geeta and Sabita were in the wrong place at the wrong time, facing the brunt of the falling tree. Both women lost their lives on the spot, succumbing to the impact of the accident.

In a separate incident, the fury of nature struck again in Raha, Nagaon district, claiming the lives of two cattle heads. Lightning struck the unfortunate animals, resulting in their tragic demise.

These incidents serve as stark reminders of the unpredictability and danger posed by natural calamities, urging communities to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions during adverse weather conditions.
