Assam Budget to be tabled on March 16 for the financial year 2022-23

Guwahati: Finance Minister Ajanta Neog will present the state budget for the fiscal year 2022-23 on March 16.

The Business Advisory Committee (BAC) of the Assam Legislative Assembly (ALA) met today with ALA Speaker Biswajit Daimary. It was determined that the state budget would be presented on March 16, 2022.

The Budget session will be extended from March 14 to April 1 by the Business Advisory Committee. There will be nine working days throughout this period. During that time, the Assembly’s department-related standing committees will have their meetings.

The state budget is currently being prepared in full swing. On February 5, all state departments submitted budget recommendations to the Finance Department.

Other departments’ recommendations are being examined by the Finance Department.

The Finance Department is also looking at how various departments used funds in the current fiscal year, which runs until December 31, 2021.

It will be Neog’s first full-fledged state budget presentation. Neog presented the latest six-month budget after Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma took office in Dispur.

Neog will approve the budget in cooperation with Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
