Assam: ULFA (I) Demands Sanjoy Kishan’s Apology
Guwahati: Assam’s minister of tea tribes’ welfare, Sanjoy Kishan was warned on Saturday by the banned military organization United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (ULFA-I) to apologize for his statement against ULFA (I) Commander-in-Chief Paresh Barua.
The minister has been given 24 hours to apologize or face the consequences, according to the group.
The outfit leader said, “If Kishan does not apologize within 24 hours, he would be declared banned in Tinsukia and Dibrugarh districts. No one should attend any Kishan programme. ULFA (I) shall not be held liable for the consequences that supporters of Kishan would experience.”
Sanjay Kishan referred to Paresh Barua as a “liar” on Friday. Kishan was responding to rumours that the ULFA (I) had sentenced two youngsters to death for supposedly being state police agents, as well as the death of Biju Gogoi, who the organisation said committed suicide.
He said that the militant head was lying about Gogoi’s death and had been deceiving the state’s youths for a long time.
“ULFA (I) has already stated its viewpoint on the death of Biju Gogoi and presented the facts,” militant leader Arunodoy Asom said in a statement in response to Kishan’s remark. We will provide additional proof to Gogoi’s family if necessary. But Kishan’s use of the word ‘lies’ to describe the group’s leader is reprehensible.”
