Assam: Unidentified Miscreants Murder Retired Engineer In Kokrajhar

Guwahati, 29th November: A retired engineer, Tapan Chakravarty (70), fell victim to a gruesome attack by unidentified miscreants on Tuesday night in Assam’s Kokrajhar district. The assailants, who invaded the residence in Bidhanpalli area, inflicted fatal injuries on the retired engineer and his wife, Madhumita Chakravarty (65), using sharp objects.

Tapan Chakravarty succumbed to the attack, while his wife sustained severe injuries and has been admitted to a hospital in Bongaigaon for medical care. The motive behind the ruthless assault remains unknown.

The retired engineer, formerly of the agriculture department, and his wife, a retired high school teacher, were reportedly alone at home during the attack. Their son resides in Bengaluru, and their daughter is based in America.

Local authorities were alerted, and the police promptly arrived at the scene to launch an investigation. A bloodied knife was recovered from the crime scene, further intensifying the mystery surrounding the brutal incident. As the investigation unfolds, the community awaits answers regarding the motive behind the shocking assault on the retired couple.
