People’s Defence Force in Myanmar Conducts Raids on Insurgent Group Hideouts in Upper Sagaing Region

International Desk, 29th November: In a collaborative operation, Myanmar’s People’s Defence Force (PDF) and the Karen National Union (KNU) Brigade (KNA-B) successfully dismantled hideouts of the pro-Junta insurgent group United National Liberation Front (UNLF) and Valley-Based Insurgent Groups (VBIGs) in the Upper Sagaing region.

During the extensive operation, the joint forces, operating under the Myanmar National Unity Government (NUG), seized control of the infamous Thanan Concentration camp, notorious for human rights violations. The strategic raid resulted in the recovery of substantial arms and ammunition, equivalent to three truckloads, showcasing the effectiveness of the PDF and KNA-B collaboration.

The operation, conducted from 3:00 am to 9:00 pm, included a fierce gunfight leading to the successful capture of the Thanan Concentration camp. Badges and ammunition bearing the insignia of the pro-military SNA terrorist group, operating as Pyu-Saw-Htee soldiers for the Myanmar Military Junta, were also uncovered during the clashes.

On the subsequent day, November 23, PDF and KNA-B forces initiated another offensive to eliminate major hideouts of Valley-Based Insurgent Groups (VBIGs) in the Thanan-Tonghe adjoining areas of Upper Sagaing Division. The operation resulted in significant casualties among UNLF and PLA VBIGs, known for operating against the interests of the Myanmar public in collaboration with the military junta.

This joint effort marks a significant stride in the ongoing struggle for democracy and the eradication of insurgent threats within Myanmar’s borders.
