Assam: Union Minister Amit Shah to Lead Grand Roadshow in Guwahati Ahead of Lok Sabha Elections
Guwahati, 27th April: Union Minister Amit Shah is gearing up to lead a grand roadshow in Guwahati, Assam, on April 29, ahead of the third phase of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The event is anticipated to draw a significant number of supporters and is poised to play a crucial role in galvanizing voter participation.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma affirmed the preparations for the event, stating, “Amit Shah is set to hold a roadshow in Guwahati on May 29. The roadshow will traverse the Cycle factory-Lal Ganesh area of the city.” Sarma emphasized meticulous planning to ensure the roadshow’s success, aiming for a grand and peaceful event while mitigating traffic congestion.
Expressing concerns over the historically low voter turnout in the Guwahati Lok Sabha seat, CM Sarma highlighted the imperative of addressing this trend. He noted, “In Guwahati, there is an issue of low voter turnout, and we have to fight against this. Usually, whoever comes to vote, votes for BJP, but the voter percentage is less compared to other LS seats. If 20 lakh people in Guwahati vote, the margin for BJP is 5 lakh.”
Meanwhile, the opposition party is also making strategic moves in the electoral arena. Congress party chief Kharge is slated to hold a press conference in Guwahati, where the Congress nominee Mira Borthakur Goswami contests against BJP’s Bijuli Kalita Medhi. Following the press conference, Kharge will lead a public meeting in Barpeta, Assam, as part of the party’s campaign efforts.
With both major parties intensifying their campaign activities, the electoral landscape in Assam is set for heightened excitement and engagement as the Lok Sabha elections progress.
