Guwahati: A woman was allegedly murdered by her own husband in Lanka under Hojai district of Assam on Monday.
The incident occurred in no 1 Mainau Dubli village.
According to reports, the accused husband identified as Roten Basumatary repeatedly beat his wife with a stool, causing her death.
The victim woman has been identified as Shree Basumatary.
As per locals, the accused husband committed the crime as a result of a family feud, although the exact motive has yet to be determined.
Following the incident, police officials detained the suspect and transported the woman’s body for an autopsy.
An investigation has also been launched into the incident.
