Assam: Yaba Tablets Seized in Hailakandi Worth Rs 40 Lakhs
Guwahati: In the ongoing war against drugs, Assam Police seized Yaba Tablets worth Rs 40 Lakhs in Hailakandi district on Thursday.
According to reports, the authorities in Hailakandi’s Narainpur Pt. III confiscated a large ammount of Yaba Tablets. According to the police, 10,000 Yaba Tablets were claimed to be present in the seized shipment.
Additionally, a peddler who’s identity had surfaced in numerous prior incidents of drug trafficking and peddling in the area was also apprehended during the operation and tipped off the authorities.
The arrestee has been identified as Bilal Uddin Choudhury. Additionally, authorities calculated that the value of the seized shipment on the global drug markets was worth Rs 40 lakhs.
Assam Police recovered a large ammount of Yaba tablets in the Karimganj area on April 9 worth Rs. 10 lakhs.
According to reports, the police conducted an operation in the Karimganj area of Badarpur after receiving specific information about the yaba tablets.
A bag containing yaba pills was successfully seized during the operation. A well-known drug dealer Dilawar Hussain left the area when he noticed the police searching the area for him.
Meanwhile, the bag had up to 110 packets containing yaba pills. The tablets that were confiscated are thought to have a market value of about Rs. 10 lakhs.
As many as 600 yaba tablets had been seized the day before in the South Salmara district.
The tablets were seized at Assam-Bangladesh international border while the Border Security Force (BSF) and Guwahati Frontier undertook a coordinated operation against trans-border offences and drug trafficking.
