Assam: Youth Allegedly Sets House on Fire in Karimganj, Drug Influence Suspected

Guwahati, 31st March: A young man from Karimganj is alleged to have set his house ablaze, resulting in the complete destruction of all belongings within. The incident unfolded at Loknath Memorial on Lakhisaran Road in Karimganj town, with the fire erupting around 2 pm last night, inflicting substantial damage to the property.

According to local accounts, the young man, identified as Dipanjan Nath, is believed to have been under the influence of drugs, engaging in various mischievous activities on a nightly basis. On this particular occasion, his mother’s absence prompted him to purportedly ignite the house and exclaim “Bholebam.” By the time Dipanjan Nath’s father, Deepak Nath, arrived at the scene, the dwelling was already consumed by flames, resulting in its complete devastation.

In the aftermath of the incident, Dipanjan Nath has purportedly gone into hiding, leaving the local community in a state of distress. This occurrence is not isolated, as similar incidents have been reported in the area previously.

The incident underscores the alarming consequences of drug use and its potential impact on individuals and their families, serving as a stark reminder of the importance of addressing substance abuse within communities.
