Assam Youth Congress Activist Alleges Assault by ABVP Activists

Guwahati, 8th October: In a troubling incident, a Youth Congress activist in Assam’s Karimganj district, identified as Joy Prakash Das, has reported a violent assault allegedly perpetrated by members of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP). The victim has sustained injuries and stab wounds as a result of the attack.

According to Das, the assault took place on Sunday while he was returning home after participating in the “Youth Jodo Yatra.” He has named three individuals, Tanish Deb, Rahul Roy, and Soumitra Nath, as his attackers in the FIR he filed at the Karimganj Police Station. Furthermore, Das claims that the assailants robbed him of Rs 27,000 in cash.

The victim alleges that this attack is connected to his previous actions. He had submitted a memorandum to the Superintendent of Police of Karimganj district, demanding justice for Pantu Malakar, who was reportedly attacked by the same individuals on September 27 within the premises of Karimganj College.

As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with this case. The incident has gained attention on social media, with Assam Pradesh Congress Committee president Bhupen Bora sharing images of the victim’s injuries on the X platform.
