Guwahati: Northeast Care Foundation, a Tinsukia-based non-governmental organisation (NGO) is accused of misappropriating millions of rupees in government subsidies.
According to reports, the NGO has a contract with the Tinsukia municipality for disposal activities. It has been accused of misappropriating approximately Rs 1.5 crores in government funding.
Following the allegations, the district collector has launched an investigation into the NGO’s management.
It should be mentioned that the municipality hired the NGO to do garbage collection. According to allegations, it received payments in the lakhs, which it skimmed off.
