Assembly election results: BJP Holds Upper Hand in Madhya Pradesh, Nail-biting Contest in Rajasthan, Congress Leads in Telangana

National Desk, 3rd December: As the assembly elections unfolded across four states, the initial vote count indicated the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) taking an early lead in Rajasthan. Simultaneously, the Congress held an advantage over its competitors in Telangana and Madhya Pradesh.

In Rajasthan, the BJP led in 13 seats, while the incumbent Congress was ahead in 5 seats.

Moving to Madhya Pradesh, early trends suggested the Congress expanding its lead in 18 seats, maintaining a slight edge over the ruling BJP, which was leading in 13 seats.

In Telangana, governed by the BRS, the Congress emerged as the initial front-runner, leading in 7 seats, while the ruling party was ahead in 6 seats. This hinted at a closely contested battle for supremacy.

Election results for Mizoram, which also participated in this election cycle, will be announced a day later, respecting the Christian-majority state’s observance of Sunday.

These assembly polls, spanning the Hindi heartland, the country’s youngest state, and one of the Seven Sisters in the Northeast, transcend a mere test of regional political strength. They serve as a precursor to the national elections looming on the horizon.

With stakes higher than ever, the outcomes are poised to influence strategies and alliances as political parties, both large and small, gear up for the 2024 Lok Sabha showdown.
