Assistant Professor of SU booked for allegedly sexually harassing Colleague

Assistant Professor of Peace and Conflict department of Sikkim University has been booked for allegedly sexually harassing assistant professor of another department. The victim assistant professor with the same university has lodged an FIR at Ranipool police station against accused Dr. Dinesh Kumar Ahirwar, Assistant Professor, Department of peace and conflict studies and Management stating she is being sexually harassing and stalking her since 31st January by way of messaging and calling her repeatedly.

Further the complainant tried to warn him on several instances by blocking his number and his social media account but the alleged instead started emailing her with sexual vulgar content thereby disrespecting her and harming her personal integrity.

The alleged recently visited her house twice and on second occasion that is on 17th August 2020 he entered the house when she was alone without her prior invitation and consent and on expressing her annoyance, the alleged person argued with her making her feel uneasy and intimidated with his behavior read police report. Accused has been booked under section 354 A/354 D/448/509 IPC and under police custody.

When we tried to reach out to Registrar TK Kaul then he said “he dont have any information on this because its a holiday” similalry we also talk with S Paul, President of Sikkim University Teacher Association ( SUTA) he said “we have not received anything offcially so far, we will take action if anything comes officially.
