Austria’s Dominic Thiem wins maiden US Open men’s title

Austria’s Dominic Thiem won his maiden Grand Slam title with a stunning comeback to beat Germany’s Alexander Zverev 2-6 4-6 6-4 6-3 7-6(6) in a nail-biting match in the U.S Open final on Sunday. Initially Dominic Thiem lost the staring 2 sets of the US Open 2020 men’s singles final but the Austrian world number 3 won the next three sets to clinch his maiden Grand Slam title.

Germany’s Alexander Zverev fought hard but eventually lost his match to Thiem, the 23-year-old German Alexander Zverev, bidding to become the first German male to win a Grand Slam after Boris Becker won in New York in 1996, showed great gameplay to beat Thiem but eventually the Austrian won the prestigious US Open men’s title.
