Bagdogra’s Airport, Wreaths were Placed on the Mortal Remains of 16 soldiers

Digital Desk: At Bagdogra Airport in West Bengal on Saturday, a wreath-laying ceremony was performed at the graves of the 16 Indian Army troops who died in a road accident in Sikkim.

Prem Singh Tamang, the chief minister of Sikkim, laid wreaths and paid tribute to the 16 soldiers.

Taking to twitter, PS Tamang said, “I join the nation in mourning this sorrowful loss and once again, I extend my heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, relatives and friends. May God bestow eternal peace to the brave souls.”

It should be noted that on Friday in North Sikkim, an army truck that was carrying 16 jawans crashed off a cliff and into a deep ditch.

The incident happened in Sikkim’s Jema Hills, a rural location 15 kilometres from Lachen town.

According to reports, the car that rolled into the ditch was a part of a three-vehicle convoy that was travelling from Chatten to Thangu. It was making an attempt to navigate a tight turn when the accident occurred.
