BCCI Eyeing to Host IPL in September-October

BCCI is aiming to stage IPL 2020 in the September-October window after the general meeting of ICC is completed. However the IPL will be held if the ICC T20 World Cup doesn’t happen in that similar window. The IPL Governing Council Chairman Brijesh Patel said that ” Yes, we are looking at those dates, but it all depends on the future of the T20 World Cup and the ongoing pandemic situation in the month of September-October.

He also added that the sponsors and the broadcasters have given green signal to host matches behind close doors. BCCI president Sourav Ganguly wrote a letter to all affiliated members where he ensured that if a playing window for IPL occurs than the board will definitely play the most viewed cricket league in the world.

BCCI needs a window of at least 40 days to stage the IPL as in 2009 it was held in a period of 37 days because the tournament was shifted to South Africa for the general elections. The surety of hosting the IPL in September-October will be official after ICC takes a call on the future of T20 World Cup 2020.
