Guwahati: In a spate of repeated incidents of boats capsizing, in yet another mishap on Friday, a boat carrying 24 migrants drowned in Hojai district of Assam.
At least 3 children are missing after the incident.
The incident took place when the villagers were moving to safety from inundated Islampur village.
According to reports, the boat hit submerged a brick kiln and capsized in Raikota area.
Meanwhile, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) personnel rescued 21 people.
It may be mentioned that search operations are underway to trace the three missing children.
