Bomb Threat After Suspected Suitcase Found In Zoo Road, Guwahati

Guwahati: Guwahati was in a state of heightened tension due to a suspected bomb-filled suitcase on Wednesday night.

According to reports, the incident took place at Zoo Road where a bag was believed to have been abandoned on the Sundarpur sidewalk for a number of days.

The city police increased security in the area starting at 11 p.m. and conducted a bomb squad and sniffer dog search after the incident.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Surjeet Singh Panesar was also present in the spot.

A rescue van assisted in transporting the bag around 3.30 pm to the Home Guard Training Center in Panikhaiti.

However, it is still unknown whether the suitcase contained a bomb or something else because the police declined to comment on what was inside or what happened to it after it was brought to the training facility.

Media persons were not allowed to enter in the training centre.
