Brazilian Riots’ Top Officials to be Arrested

Guwahati: Top Brazilian judicial officials have been ordered to be arrested for their involvement in the ransacking of government buildings.

The attorney general’s office said that the officials are also “responsible for acts and omissions” that resulted in the disturbances, including the former head of Brasilia’s public security, Anderson Torres.

According to police, approximately 1159 of those arrested in connection with the brasilian government building invasion on Sunday are still being held. After being detained, 684 additional people, including old people, persons with health concerns, and parents of young children, were freed for “humanitarian grounds.”

Any member of the far-right political party of former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro who is shown in videos participating in the Sunday looting of government facilities will be instantly dismissed from the group, according to the party’s head.

According to Valdemar Costa Neto, the leader of the right-wing Liberal Party, which is the largest party in Brazil’s Congress, Bolsonaro supporters’ rampage that trashed the Supreme Court, Congress, and presidential palace was condemned.

Notably, the unrest started a week after President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, better known by his stage name Lula, took office. The dramatic scenes comprised thousands of protestors who overran police and ransacked the centre of the Brazilian state, some of them were wearing yellow Brazil football shirts and brandishing flags.
