BSF and Karimganj Police Seize Burmese Supari Worth Rs 1 Crore in Joint Operation

Guwahati, 23rd July: In a collaborative operation conducted by the Border Security Force (BSF) and Karimganj Police, a massive quantity of Burmese supari worth Rs 1 crore was seized from a truck in Badarpur area of Karimganj.

Sources report that the joint operation resulted in the interception of a truck bearing registration number NL-01AB-8938, carrying a staggering 16,907 kg of Burmese supari. The truck was en route from Karimganj to Guwahati when apprehended by the police.

The truck driver, identified as Samsuddin, was taken into custody by the authorities.

Partha Protim Das, Superintendent of Police, Karimganj Police, stated, “We were able to seize 16,907 kg of Burmese Supari from the vehicle during the combined search operation. The truck driver, Samsuddin, was also detained with us. The recovered Burmese Supari is thought to be worth around Rs 1 crore on the open market.”

As the investigation unfolds, authorities are delving deeper into the matter to uncover any potential leads or connections related to the significant seizure.
