BSF Seizes Medicines Worth Over Rs 5 Lakh, Arrests Two Indian Nationals in Meghalaya

Northeast Desk, 4th August: Border Security Force (BSF) troops from the 110 Battalion in Meghalaya have apprehended two Indian nationals and seized medicines valued at over Rs 5 lakh. The arrest took place near the Bholaganj bordering area in East Khasi Hills district. The operation followed specific intelligence that led to the interception of a vehicle loaded with the contraband.

According to the BSF, the seized medicines were destined for smuggling into Bangladesh. The investigation into the matter is ongoing, with further details expected.

In a separate incident on July 31, BSF troops from the 193 Battalion in Meghalaya intercepted 19 wooden boats in the Jadukata river near Ghumaghat. These boats, belonging to Bangladeshi smugglers, were intended for use in crossing into Indian territory to collect stone boulders and sand. The seized boats were handed over to the Customs office in Dangar for further action.
