Bureaucratic Shuffle in Assam: Senior IAS Officer Embarks on Central Deputation
Guwahati, 19th November: In a significant administrative reorganization within the state, a seasoned IAS officer is set to transition to a central deputation role, while another senior IAS officer is returning to his home cadre from central deputation.
The Personnel Department of the State Government recently issued multiple notifications outlining the reshuffling of IAS officers.
According to one such notification, Niraj Verma (RR-1994), presently serving as Additional Chief Secretary to the Government of Assam, overseeing Power (E) and Personnel Departments, along with chairing APDCL and APGCL, has been placed at the disposal of the Government of India. This move is in accordance with the Department of Personnel and Training, Government of India. Verma is appointed as the Administrator for the Universal Service Obligation Fund in the Department of Telecommunications, holding the rank and pay of Additional Secretary. The transition is effective from the date of assuming charge in his new role. Niraj Verma is officially released from his state government duties as of the handover date.
