BVR Subrahmanyam Appointed As NITI Aayog’s New CEO

Guwahati: BVR Subrahmanyam has been chosen to lead the National Institute for Transforming India (NITI) Aayog as its new CEO.

The nomination of Subrahmanyam was approved by the Union Cabinet’s Appointments Committee.

After being named Executive Director at the World Bank, Parameswaran Iyer will relocate to the United States and Subrahmanyam will take his position.

The notice issued by the committee read, “The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of Shri B.V.R. Subrahmanyam, IAS (CG:87) (Retd.) as Chief Executive Officer, NITI Aayog, vice Shri Parameswar Iyer, upon his appointment as Executive Director, World Bank Headquarters, Washington DC, USA, for a period of two years from the date of assumption of the charge of the post or until further orders, whichever is earlier, on the terms and conditions, previously approved in respect of appointment of Shri Parameswaran Iyer as CEO, NITI Aayog.”

Subrahmanyam who hails from Andhra Pradesh is an IAS officer from the Chhattisgarh cadre and a member of the 1987 batch. During 2004 until 2008, he served as the then-Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s private secretary.

He held the position of Chief Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir in 2018 before taking over as the Ministry of Commerce and Industry’s Commerce Secretary.
