Cambridge University to name chemistry department after an Indian Scientist

Cambridge University has decided to name its chemistry department after a Polish-born-Indian  scientist and chairman of Cipla, Yusuf Hamied. The department of chemistry of the University will be now called as Yusuf Hamied Department of Chemistry till 2050.

Yusuf Hamied was a former alumnus and had been honoured in recognition of his ‘generous benefaction’ which will establish the Yusuf Hamied fund and the Hamied Scholars Programme in the chemistry department of Cambridge University.
