CDS Gen Bipin Rawat passes away

Guwahati: Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat has passed away after an Indian Air Force Helicopter crashed near Coonoor in Tamil Nadu.

Reportedly, Rawat’s wife Madhulika Rawat was also passed away after the helicopter crashed in Nilgiris district.

At least 14 persons were on the helicopter and all of them have been confirmed to be dead.

Although Bipin Rawat was taken to the military hospital in Wellington, he succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

The crashed helicopter has been identified to be a Mi-17V5 helicopter. All the bodies recovered from the site have been taken to the Military Hospital in Wellington.

Of the fourteen people on board, nine were identified as CDS General Bipin Rawat, his wife Madhulika Rawat, Brig LS Lidder, Lt Col Harjinder Singh, Naik Gursewak Singh, Naik Jitendra Kumar, L/Naik Vivek Kumar, L/Naik B Sai Teja & Hav Satpal.
