Chinese Hackers targeting SBI Customers?

Guwahati: You can now lose all your savings from your bank account by just clicking a link. Yes, there are reports that some hackers claimed to be based in China are targeting the customers of the State Bank of India (SBI).

If you are an SBI account holder, you should now be very cautious while clicking on any link that you might have received through text message.

The cyber experts reportedly claimed that cybercriminals are sending fake messages to bank customers asking them to update their customer details with the text ‘Update Your KYC’ with a malicious link embedded to it. As soon as any customer clicks the link, they are asked to fill in some confidential information which includes the customer’s user name, password, and a captcha code.

Once the customer is done with filling in the information, they are asked for an OTP which is sent to the user’s registered phone number.

After the OTP is entered, customers are redirected and asked to enter some more “confidential information”. They are further asked to fill in their account holder’s name, mobile number, and date of birth. As soon as entering the above data, it redirects the user to another OTP page. After all these, without the customers knowing that their money was in danger all this while, hackers or cybercriminals steal all the money from the victim’s bank account.

Another scam that is done through phishing is that hackers try to trick the customers with an offer of Rs 50 lakhs to the SBI customers.

However, SBI has clarified that the government-owned bank is not offering any such deal. Checking the bank’s official website has been suggested by the bank if any customer ever receives any sort of suspicious emails or texts.
