CID Actor Dinesh Phadnis Passes Away at 57 Due to Multiple Organ Failure

Entertainment Desk, 5th December: Television actor Dinesh Phadnis, renowned for portraying Fredericks in the widely-loved show CID, passed away at the age of 57 on Tuesday.

His co-actor from CID, Dayanand Shetty, who played Daya, confirmed the sad news to indianexpress.com, stating, “Dinesh breathed his last at 12.08 am.” The actor, in his late 50s, had been undergoing treatment at Mumbai’s Tunga Hospital.

Shetty disclosed that Dinesh succumbed to multiple organ failure, mentioning, “There were a lot of complications, and he was removed from ventilator last night.” The funeral ceremony is scheduled to take place in Mumbai at 10.30 am.

Initially reported as a cardiac arrest on Sunday, it was later clarified by Shetty that the cause was liver damage.

Dinesh gained widespread recognition for his role as Fredericks in CID, a television series that premiered in 1998 and continued for two decades on Sony TV.

Beyond CID, he made appearances in the popular sitcom Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah and played supporting roles in movies like Super 30 and Sarfarosh.
