Guwahati, 20th July: In a shocking incident reported on Thursday, a class 9 student at Oil Valley School in Digboi, Assam, suffered severe mental trauma after being allegedly ragged by some of her classmates. The distressed father of the victim, who is a daily-wage earner, expressed his anguish over the situation and revealed that his daughter had been continuously crying since returning home from school on July 18.
Upon investigating the reason for her distress, the father learned about the torture she endured in the classroom at the hands of a few classmates. The situation worsened when she woke up in shock and tears after sleeping for just an hour later that night. The family immediately sought help from a psychiatrist at Tinsukia Hospital, but the prescribed medicine showed no signs of improvement in her condition.
Desperate for a solution, they reached out to the school principal, who offered comfort but could not alleviate the severity of the trauma. The father clarified that he bears no grudges against the school authorities or the students, but demands that they cover the medical expenses. He believes that if the school had been vigilant about their students’ actions, this distressing situation could have been avoided.
Thankfully, the school authorities have agreed to provide the necessary medical aid for the student’s treatment. Simultaneously, a First Information Report (FIR) has been lodged at the Digboi Police Station to investigate the incident and hold the responsible parties accountable for their actions.
