Clause 6 of the ‘Assam Accord’ is far from a legal reality, cannot be implemented fully: Himanta Biswa Sarma
Assam’s Finance, Health, and Education Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma said that since the report compiled by the High-Level Committee constituted to implement the Clause 6 of the ‘Assam Accord’ is far from a legal reality, and therefore, it cannot be implemented fully. “Although the Government is implementing the Clause 6, but all recommendations can’t be implemented because they become legally impossible,” Sarma said during the launch of his latest Book here earlier Today.
Meanwhile, it has been learnt that the recommendations for the implementation of Clause 6 of the Assam Accord are under Examination of the Assam Government and are yet to reach the Centre. This was informed by Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, G Kishan Reddy in response to a question in the Rajya Sabha on February 10. The minister said, “The High-Level Committee for implementation of Clause 6 of Assam Accord, headed by Hon’ble Justice (Retd) B K Sharma, has submitted its report to the Assam Government.”
