Congress Chief Mallikarjun Kharge to Visit Nagaland Today
Guwahati: The president of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) Mallikarjun Kharge is scheduled to begin his campaigning in Nagaland today (February 21).
A public rally will be addressed by the AICC President at Diphupar Village Public Field in Chumoukedima when he arrives in Nagaland today.
Prior to the Nagaland Assembly elections, Mallikarjun Kharge the leader of the Congress party said on February 16 that his party is committed to the welfare and general development of Nagaland.
According to Kharge, the people of Nagaland deserve a peaceful, wealthy and progressive government.
“Together, let’s bring change,” he tweeted.
Kharge also promised to bring back Nagaland’s Old Pension Program if his party is elected, just as it was done in Himachal Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.
Kharge asserted that if his party wins the upcoming election on February 27, it will form a minority board give women 33% of the seats currently held by men in local urban authorities and ensure full payment of MRNEGA dues in addition to promoting safety and law and order.
It was announced that 183 people would be standing for 60 seats in the Nagaland Legislature, according to Chief Election Officer V Shashank Shekhar on February 18.
Twenty candidates from the BJP, one from the CPI, 23 from the Congress, twelve each from the NCP and NPP, forty from the NDPP, twenty-two from the NPF, one from the RPP, seven from the JD(U), fifteen from the LJP (Ram Vilas), nine from the RPI (Athawale) and nineteen Independents are running.
