Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi Accuses BJP of Misusing IT and CBI to Target Opposition

Guwahati, 26th February: Congress leader and MP Gaurav Gogoi has leveled accusations against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), alleging their misuse of Information Technology (IT) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to target opposition leaders. Speaking to the media on February 26, Gogoi emphasized the significance of Congress MP Rahul Gandhi’s “Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra,” highlighting it as a symbol of robust opposition to the BJP.

Gogoi underscored Rahul Gandhi’s pivotal role in assuming the mantle of opposition amidst mounting pressures, stating, “If there is anyone who is playing the role of opposition, it is Rahul Gandhi.” He lamented the BJP’s alleged tactics of targeting opposition figures through IT and CBI probes, suggesting that such actions hinder the effective functioning of opposition leaders.

With the Lok Sabha elections drawing near, political parties are intensifying their preparations, leading to heightened tensions between the BJP and Congress. Mudslinging between leaders from both parties has become commonplace as the electoral battle looms large.

Meanwhile, the crisis-stricken Congress in Assam suffered another setback with the resignation of senior leader Rana Goswami from the post of organisational in-charge of Upper Assam. Reports speculate that Goswami may soon switch allegiance to the saffron party (BJP), further exacerbating the challenges faced by the Congress in the state.
