Contraband items worth Rs 5 lakh seized in Tripura, 1 held
Guwahati: In continuation of the Tripura Police’s mission to make the State a drug free one, the west Amtali Police Station arrested one suspected drug peddler along with heroine on Wednesday.
The arrestee identified as Om Prakash Shaw.
Following a tip-off, the police officials intercepted an SUV in front of the Amtali Police Station as it attempted to enter Agartala, the state capital, from the south Tripura.
On checking the vehicle, the officials recovered 78.5 grams of suspected brown sugar stashed within six soap cases hidden in the handbrake cover.
The estimated cost of the heroin is said to be Rs 5lakhs in international markets.
Reportedly, Prakash is also the owner of the vehicle and has been arrested under relevant parts of the NDPS Act.
It needs to mentioned that a legal action has been initiated into the matter and further investigation is underway.
