COVID-19: Maharashtra Govt extends restrictions in City

Guwahati: In view of the increasing number of the new COVID variant Omicron in Mumbai, the Maharashtra government extended restrictions in the city till January 15.

According to restrictions, the citizens of Mumbai are restricted from visiting beaches, open grounds, sea faces, promenades, gardens, parks, or similar public places, from 5 pm to 5 am.

The state administration has also set a limit of 50 individuals per open or closed place. Previously, wedding functions or social, cultural, political, and religious gatherings could only have 100 people in confined places and 250 people in open locations.

Only 20 persons are allowed to attend funerals and cremations under the new guideline.

Any person who disobeys the order will face penalties under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant), as well as provisions of the Epidemic Diseases Act 1897, Pandemic Act, and National Disaster Management Act 2005, as well as other applicable legal provisions.

After 3,671 new Covid-19 cases were reported in Mumbai on Thursday, the positive rate increased to 8.48 percent.
