Defence Minister Rajnath Singh Inaugurates Siyom Bridge

Guwahati: Amidst the border tension between India and China, Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh on January 3 inaugurated the Siyom bridge in Arunachal Pradesh and 27 other BRO-completed infrastructure projects.

Rajnath Singh arrived in Boleng in the Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh and officially opened the crucial Siyom Bridge.

The defence minister spoke at the occasion and emphasised the value of prioritising national interests in order to keep the nation dominant.

“In this era of changing priorities & interests of the nations, it’s necessary for any nation to keep itself empowered. India has always been against war. Our Armed forces are always ready to face any kind of situation and BRO is walking along with them,” he added.

Rajnath Singh spoke at the occasion and praised BRO’s dedication to building these roads and bridges on schedule in order to create connectivity in remote places. He stated that in addition to these 28 infrastructure projects, BRO also finished 102 infrastructure projects in 2021 and dedicated a record-breaking 103 infrastructure projects to the nation in 2022. He was impressed by the achievement of completing these 28 infrastructure projects so quickly this year. He said that the BRO’s performance was exceptional and reflected the tenacity and resolve of the whole Border Roads Organization, which is led admirably by Lt. Gen. Rajeev Chaudhry, VSM and DG Border Roads.

He also praised BRO’s efforts to continually be at the forefront of introducing cutting-edge technology that are both economical and environmentally benign. He stated that these technologies have helped to solve a number of construction issues that have been harming the roads being built on our borders since BRO operates in hard and extreme terrain and temperature conditions.

According to a statement made by the Defence Ministry, Singh would also reportedly virtually launch 27 further projects of the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), in addition to the publication of the BRO Vision and New Tech Handbook. He would then start a conversation with the people.

The BRO developed 3,097 km of roads in Arunachal Pradesh over the preceding five years the government recently informed Parliament during the winter session.

This would be the Defense Minister’s first visit to Arunachal Pradesh following the recent clash in the Tawang region between the Indian and Chinese security forces.

According to government statistics, 257 new roads with a combined length of 13,525.417 km have been built over the past five years in 10 states and 3 union territories.

The data shows that over the past five years the BRO constructed 64 roads totaling 3,097 km in Arunachal Pradesh and 43 roads totaling 3,140 km in Ladakh.

According to the data, there were 13 roads (884.309 km) in Rajasthan and 18 roads (663.535 km) in Sikkim. There were also 22 roads (947.21 km) in Uttarakhand and 61 roads (2381.963 km) in the UT of Jammu & Kashmir.
