Delhi Police Tightens Security Prior Of Farmers’ Protest

Guwahati: The Delhi Police has increased border security in anticipation of Monday’s call for a protest by farmers.

Police have erected concrete barricades at the union territory’s Singhu and Tikri borders as well as in the locations where farmers have begun to arrive in order to increase security.

Additionally, Section 144 has been implemented by the police in Delhi, and Jantar Mantar is under tight security.

According to reports, ‘Mahapanchayat’ the protest was called by the Samyukt Kisan Morcha at the national capital’s Jantar Mantar for which the farmers has started moving towards the protest’s venue.

However, the Delhi police refused permissions for the protest.

Reportedly, the rally was organised to advocate for the release of farmers who were imprisoned and justice for the victim’s family in the Lakhimpur Kheri incident.

The demonstrators will also call for the detention of Union Minister Ajay Mishra Teni, whose son Ashish was involved and was the main defendant in the Lakhimpur Kheri case.

On October 20, 2021, an SUV driven allegedly by Ashish who mowed down four farmers.

Tolstoy Marg, Sansad Marg, Janpath (from outer circle Connaught Place to Roundabout Windsor Place), outer circle Connaught Place, Ashoka Road, Baba Kharak Singh Marg, and Pandit Pant Marg are among the roads that Delhi Police advised against using in a traffic advice.
