Dhalpur Eviction: AAMSU demands restoration of Houses

Guwahati: Following the incident which took place in Sipajhar on 23 September, All Assam Minority Student Union (AAMSU) along with various student organisations of Assam staged massive protests in different places across the state.

The protesters were demanding to stop the eviction and also demanded from the government to fix all the houses which were demolished during the eviction drive at Garukhuti’s Dhalpur in Sipajhar.

The organisations further called for 12 hour bandh in Darrang district on Friday.

Meanwhile, during the protests the effigies of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma were also burnt by the supporters.

It may be mentioned that on 23 September, in the eviction drive at Dhalpur at least two persons were shot dead and many people got injured in the incident who are currently undergoing treatment in the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in Guwahati.
