DRDO’s 2-DG drug to treat COVID-19 coming next week
The first batch of 10,000 doses of a new drug developed by DRDO’s 2-Deoxy-Glucose drug to treat COVID-19 infections likely to be launched in the country early next week, news agency ANI reported.
The 2-DG anti COVID-19 therapeutic application of the drug has been developed by Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Allied Science (INMAS) a lab of DRDO in collaboration with the DR. Reddy’s Laboratory, Hyderabad.
One sachet of the drug will contain 5.85 gram of the drug and this could prove to be a game-changer in India’s fight against COVID-19.
2-DG is the first one to be termed as anti-Covid drug. The apex Drug Controller has allowed this drug for emergency use among COVID-19 patients.
