Drug Peddler Injured in Police Encounter in Nagaon

Guwahati: In yet another police encounter one more criminal who is accused of trafficking drugs injured in Nagaon district of Assam on Friday.

The incident took place in the Juria town of the district.

The injured identified as Motijul Islam.

According to reports, Nagaon police conducted search operations based on specific information on Friday and apprehended the accused and seized roughly 750 grammes of heroin from his possession.

The heroin confiscated is estimated to be worth roughly Rs 7 crores in the market.

The police had reportedly brought Motijul to his home in Juria’s Kadamani Pathar for additional inquiry. Motijul used the cover of darkness to attack the officers with a sharp weapon. The police opened fire on Motijul in order to defend themselves, and he was shot in the leg as a result.

It may be mentioned that he had been shifted to the Bhugeshwari Phukanani Civil Hospital in Nagaon for treatment right after he was injured. However, the doctors referred him to Guwahati for further improved treatment.
