Guwahati: One drug peddler was shot by Assam Police when he tried flee from police custody in Rangia last night.
The arrested drug peddler was identified as Bidyut Dey alias Biplab
Bidyut was immediately rushed to Guwahati Medical College and Hospital for further treatment.
Following inputs from sources that a huge amount of drugs was being transported through a Bolero vehicle Kamrup Police officials along with Rangia Police launched a search operation and arrested the accused.
The Bolero is registered with number AS 01-BN-2633.
According to reports, following the arrest of the one drug peddler another one who was also involved in the drug peddling tried to flee from the spot and was shot by the police officials.
Meanwhile, the Another arrestee was identified as Jinku das. Both the suspected drug peddler are the residents of Silchar’s Lakhipur village.
The police officials recovered an amount of total 6.46 grams of Heroin from their possession.
It may be mentioned that the recovered Heroin were kept in soap case.
