The Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation experts committee has recommended the emergency use of Bharat Biotech developed COVID vaccine, Covaxin. The Panel had earlier also recommended Serum Institute of India’s Covishield for emergency use.
Both the vaccine manufactures are now awaiting a final approval from Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI). The Bharat Biotech firm had applied for emergency-use authorisation first on December 7.
