Guwahati: A 34-year-old man, who was allegedly drunk had slit his own throat with a liquor broken bottle after he was confronted by police for consuming alcohol in a public in Chennai’s Tirumullaivoyal area on Monday.
The person identified as Bhagya Raj was an auto-driver. He was a resident of Ayyapan Nagar at Ayapakkam in Thiruvallur district.
As per the police, head constable of the Tirumullaivoyal Police Station saw a group of four persons drinking amid bushes and immediately had asked them to leave the spot. Following this, two of them left immediately, but Bhagyaraj refused to leave.
He instead threatened the head constable of harming himself if he (police official) came any closer.
When the personnel asked him one more time, Bhagyaraj suddenly broke a liquor bottle and allegedly slit himself.
Immediately after this, the police official informed the police station about the incident and rushed him to Kilpauk Medical College Hospital after giving him first-aid. However, Bhagyaraj was declared brought dead at the hospital.
