Dubai to Launch World’s First Commercial Air Taxi Service by Early 2026

International Desk, 15th February: Dubai is set to pioneer the world’s inaugural commercial air taxi service by early 2026, with ambitious plans for initial operations as soon as 2025. Spearheaded by the innovative Road and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai, Joby Aviation, a trailblazer in electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, and Skyports, a leading infrastructure developer for advanced air mobility (AAM), the project aims to revolutionize urban transportation.

Under the agreement, Joby Aviation has secured exclusive rights to operate air taxis in Dubai for six years, underscoring the city’s commitment to innovation and sustainable mobility solutions. The collaboration seeks to establish Dubai as a global hub for cutting-edge transportation technology.

The initial network will feature four vertiports strategically located near key landmarks, including Dubai International Airport (DXB), Palm Jumeirah, Dubai Downtown, and Dubai Marina. These vertiports will serve as crucial hubs for air taxi operations, facilitating seamless connectivity across the city.

Moreover, the project will seamlessly integrate with RTA’s extensive public transport network, enhancing intermodal travel options and streamlining the passenger journey for residents and visitors alike. Dubai’s forward-thinking approach to transportation underscores its dedication to shaping the future of urban mobility on a global scale.
