East Bengal to feature in ISL 2020/21 season

Popular football club of West Bengal, East Bengal is also set to debut in Indian Super League. The parent body of ISL, Football Sports Development Limited (FSDL) made the announcement on Sunday in twitter. Kolkata-based cement giants Shree Cement Limited acquired the majority stakes of the East Bengal Club.

FSDL owner Nita Ambani  regarding the inclusion said that “It is such a happy and proud moment for ISL as we welcome East Bengal FC and their millions of fans into the League. The inclusion of both legacy clubs, i.e. East Bengal and Mohun Bagan (now ATK Mohun Bagan) opens limitless possibilities for Indian football, especially for talent development in the state.”

This season of ISL is set to kick-start from November this year end in March in the following year. All the matches will be played behind closed doors due to COVID Pandemic and will be played in Goa.
