Eight Rescued From Human Traffickers By SSB From Gujarat

Guwahati: The Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) rescued eight people from Assam who were kidnapped and transported to Gujarat by a group under the guise of providing them with work.

According to national media reports, the victims are from the Baksa district of Assam’s Daranga Kalipur area. They were forced to join a gang that promised them work in Gujarat.

They were handed over to the Railway Protection Force (RPF) at Guwahati’s Kamakhya Railway Station, according to Alok Sharma of the SSB’s 24 battalion.

The gang allegedly took one year’s salary from the victims amounting to Rs. 5 lakhs.

While addressing to national media, Sharma said “We rescued eight people from Gujarat, including minor girls and minor boys, and transported them to Guwahati on the Gandhidham express.”

“The rescued folks are members of an economically destitute family residing in Assam’s border districts,” he continued. The people had been duped by a group led by a woman named Manjana. The victims’ families demanded that we assist them, and we were eventually able to do so.”

Meanwhile, the family members of the victims had lodged complaints against the gang at Kumarikata police station in Baksa district.
