Guwahati: An adult female elephant was killed after it came in contact with a live electric wire in the Golaghat district on Sunday.
Forest officials informed that the elephant died of electrocution as it came in contact with a live electric wire. It was said that the forest department had found an electric post tilted on the incident side and the elephant had come in contact with an 11KV line.
Investigation over any foul play is on as per the forest department. The deceased animal was said to be of around 18 years in age.
