Guwahati: Former BPF MLA from Mushalpur constituency in Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) has been arrested by Kokrajhar Police on Friday night.
The accused identified as Hitesh Basumatary.
According to reports, Basumatary have been accused for illegal possession of deadly automatic rifles along with live magazines.
During an operation last night, he was arrested along with two others from Baksa district of Assam.
One AK series rifle with over 130 rounds and one M-16 rifles with around 10 live rounds have been seized by the police.
Police said that Basumatary was attempting to found a new terrorist group in Bodoland and had plans to enlist young boys and girls in the group.
Further investigation into the matter is underway.
