Guwahati: A Guwahati-based bar received a show cause notice by the Assam government’s excise department on Thursday for allegedly violating laws.
The bar that was found to be breaking the restrictions is called Xs Bar & Lounge, and it is located in Guwahati’s ABC locality.
Reports state that the bar was operating later than it was allowed to that December 26th evening.
According to the regulations of the Excise department, bars and other similar business facilities are required to close their doors at midnight.
The proprietor of Xs Bar & Lounge had been asked to appear in relation to the situation on December 27.
The Excise Department issued the show cause notice after two days passed with no one appearing despite the summons.
Meanwhile, having flouted the norms, the owner of the Bar faces a fine rising from Rs 50,000 to Rs 5 lakhs.
