Expelled AAMSU leader arrested for carrying unlicensed gun inside SP headquarters in Assam’s Nagaon

Guwahati: Nagaon police arrested an expelled leader of the All-Assam Minority Students’ Union (AAMSU) on Tuesday for carrying an unlicensed pistol into the Nagaon Superintendent of Police office.

The expelled leader has been identified as Kamruz Jaman Sarkar.

Sarkar allegedly entered the premises of the police department with a firearm.

While addressing to media, Superintendent of Police (SP) Nagaon, Leena Doley said, “Kamruz is one of the most wanted criminals as per police records. Several cases against Kamruz have been filed at several police stations in Nagaon and Hojai districts. He was previously involved in unlawful operations such as extortion, robbery, and land grabbing in the district. In this case, our investigation is ongoing; we’re attempting to figure out how many other charges have been filed against him.”

The SP further informed that Kamruz was arrested for illegally possessing weaponry under the Arms Act.

Meanwhile, the police had seized a .32 bore pistol along with 6 rounds of .32 mm ammunition, two mobile phones and an Innova car from his possession.
